Lionel Sosa Presents The Arts of Politics & Portraits of America

Named one the “25 Most Influential Hispanics in America” by Time Magazine in 2005, artist, author and Hispanic media advisor Lionel Sosa will kick-off the 2013-2014 Presidential Performing and Visual Arts Series and the University Lectureship series at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Sosa’s exhibit, “Portraits of America”, will be on display September 12- October 18 in the Ben Bailey Art Gallery on the A&M-Kingsville campus.

An artist reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. October 17 in the Ben Bailey Art Gallery. Sosa will present “The Art of Politics” in Jones Auditorium following the gallery reception. The lecture is part of University Lectureship Series.  

Sosa is the founder of Sosa, Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, now Bromley Communications, the largest Hispanic advertising agency in the nation. As a leading expert in Hispanic consumer and voter behavior, Sosa has served as Hispanic media advisor in seven Republican presidential races including Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984, George H. W. Bush in 1988 and 1992, George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004 and John McCain in 2008.

Lionel Sosa has authored several books including, The Americano Dream: How Latinos can Achieve Success in Business and Life. He also is a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame and has served on the  Board of Regents of the Texas University System.   

About the Presidential Performing and Visual Arts Series

The Presidential Performing and Visual Arts Series is a year-long program of art, music and theatre performances that bring culture and variety to Kingsville for faculty, staff, students and community audiences. The series strives to provide a new element of learning outside the classroom for students as they are entertained and educated through diverse mediums. Community members are welcome to continue life-long learning by attending these events.

The University Lectureship Series at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is a student-supported program that was created in order to invite guest speakers to present relevant or entertaining topics for our campus and Kingsville community. Known nationally or regionally for their expertise, invited speakers will educate, inform, and engage our students and help them to make meaning of theories they are learning in their classrooms."
