J. Randy Hughes
In July 2009 Randy Hughes was appointed Chief of Staff at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He oversees the university in the president's absence and also oversees the Office of Compliance.
Randy Hughes received his bachelor's degree in political science/health and physical education in 1974 and his master's degree in educational administration in 1982, both from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University-Kingsville).
Before joining the university, Hughes taught in the San Diego Independent School District for nine years. He is a native of San Angelo.
At the university, Hughes served as assistant professor and chair of the health and kinesiology department. In 1998 he was appointed executive assistant to the president. In June 2001 Hughes was appointed senior associate vice president and named vice president for Institutional Advancement in 2003.
