All high school students that meet the University’s Dual Enrollment admission and testing requirements.  Approval from high school counselor, higher education coordinator, and/or principal as well as parent/guardian is required to enroll in dual credit courses.

Courses offered for the dual enrollment program by the University are approved in the undergraduate course inventory of the University.  These courses will consist of core curriculum dual enrollment courses only.  For a list of courses being offered for your school, please contact your high school counselor.

Students are required to complete an approved Texas Success Initiative (TSI) exam prior to enrolling into college-level courses, unless exempt. The TSI is required by Texas law to ensure that students enrolled in Texas public colleges possess the academic skills needed to perform effectively in college-level course work. TSI includes a testing component designed to provide diagnostic information about the reading, mathematics, and writing skills of each student. If a student does not meet TSI requirements then that student may not be able to participate in certain courses such as MATH, ENGL, HIST, PSYC, POLS, CHEM, BIOL; which are all essential dual enrollment courses.

If a student finds it necessary to withdraw (dropping all dual enrolled classes) from the university, the student with the assistance of their high school counselor must notify the appropriate dual enrollment advisor and submit the appropriate drop form. Please refer to the semester Instructional Calendar for deadlines.  The most recent calendar can also be found on our student resources webpage.

Yes!  Students enrolled in the dual enrollment program ARE college students. College credit and high school credit will be earned at the same time. You are working toward completion of coursework that will be on your college transcript. This is a permanent, official college record that will strongly influence future financial aid and college/university application submissions, etc. It is very important that you understand how the final grade in this course can affect your future. Withdrawing from the class past the deadline OR failing the class will affect your future college financial aid and your future college academic status.

Academic dual credits may be applied toward the core curriculum or to other specific degree program requirements of an academic associate degree or baccalaureate degree at Texas public higher education institutions. However, transferred credits are not guaranteed to count toward a specific degree program. Some public institutions may award elective credit instead. In some instances, private or out-of-state institutions may choose not to award transfer credit for academic courses taken in dual credit programs. If students know which institution they plan to transfer credits to, they should seek guidance from an advisor at that institution. Submission of application and/or registration form does not guarantee admission to the Dual Enrollment Program and is separate from admission to Texas A&M University-Kingsville as a freshman.  Students interested in enrolling at Texas A&M University-Kingsville after high school as an undergraduate student will be required to complete an application on ApplyTexas.org and submit a non-refundable application fee to be considered for undergraduate freshman admission.
