Greetings Students!

I am delighted to welcome you to the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering, the premier engineering college in South Texas. The college has been offering engineering degree programs since 1936 and has graduated thousands of students who have or had very successful professional careers. It is not just a college of engineering; it is an 80+ year tradition of excellence. Currently, the college enrolls nearly 25% of the students on campus.

We offer ten undergraduate and twelve graduate degree programs. Our undergraduate programs in architectural engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering and natural gas engineering are accredited by EAC-ABET; the computer science is accredited by CAC-ABET; and the industrial technology management and applied engineering program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). Recently, we started an undergraduate degree program in Industrial Engineering.

Besides undergraduate degrees, we offer ten Master’s degree programs in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and natural gas engineering. Students can also pursue the nationally ranked Ph.D. degree program in Environmental Engineering or the latest Ph.D. program in Sustainable Energy Systems Engineering.

The College of Engineering maintains a strong bond with all stakeholders in the region, especially the local and regional industry, local/state/federal agencies, educational institutes of south Texas, as well as the alumni base who play an active role towards supporting the mission of the college.

TAMUK is going through an unprecedented period of growth, especially in the areas of enrollment, funded research, new academic program development, student amenities, and infrastructure development with a focus on ensuring student success. Please feel free to call, email or stop by for additional information.

It is an exciting time at TAMUK and I would invite you to become a part of this excitement and the tradition!

Sincerely,

Dr. Mohammad Alam, Dean
