Teaching and Research:

Dr. Duarte taught the senior Chemical Process Design courses at TAMUK for five and a half years. He also taught the Material and Energy Balances course, the graduate and undergraduate Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics courses and a Biochemical Engineering course.  He is currently teaching Process Dynamics and Control (graduate and undergraduate), Unit Operations I and II, Introduction to Chemical Engineering and Thermodynamics I.

Dr. Duarte has more than 25 years research experience in Thermodynamics.  He has measured PVT and heat capacity of new alternative refrigerants.  During his tenure at UCC and DOW, he has measured a wide variety of physical properties of industrially important chemicals.  This includes measurements of VLE, LLE, SLE, solubility of gases in liquids, solubility of gases in polymers, and diffusion coefficient of gases in polymers.  He developed a technique to measure the solubility and diffusion coefficient of gases and vapors in polymers using a magnetic suspension balance.

Research projects directed at TAMUK:

More than 40 master’s research projects directed at TAMUK.
