International Post Baccalaureate Undergraduate Applicant:

An “international post baccalaureate” applicant:

* is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (or applicant for permanent residency) and,

* has not graduated from a Texas high school after three years of residence in Texas. (If this applies to you, please apply as a U.S. transfer applicant based on Senate Bill 1528.) and,

* is an applicant who has a degree and,

* wishes to apply for further study at the undergraduate level or is seeking the attainment of a second bachelor's degree

1. State of Texas ApplyTexas Application – Completed.

• When completing your application, enter your name as it appears on your passport.

2. Nonrefundable $75 application fee -

* Credit card payments via ApplyTexas are preferred.

* Checks or money orders (U.S. dollars) should be made payable to TAMUK. Checks or money orders are accepted provided they display an agency bank in the United States and have magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) routing numbers at the bottom.

* International applicants are not eligible for fee waivers.

*Applicants may also use this website to make the payment: https://moneyconnect.tamuk.edu/C20209_tsa/web/login.jsp once the student is given their applicant ID (K#).

*The application fee is not refundable. 

3. Official Transcripts and records – Submit official transcripts, with graduation dates, from:

a. All post-secondary (university and college-level) courses taken. College work from one institution posted on the transcript of another institution will not be accepted.

* Copies of official foreign transcripts on file at a previously attended U.S. institution are acceptable if verified by the U.S. institution.

* Proof of degree earned.

4. Official test scores – Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit proof of English ability.

* A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 61 (Internet-based) or 500 (Paper-based) is the university minimum requirement. A higher score of 79/550 is required for all applicants to programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering.

* Test scores should be from a test date within two years.

* Test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to be considered official.

* We will use your highest test score from one test date.

* The Texas A&M University-Kingsville TOEFL code is 6822.

* Tests should be taken at least eight weeks prior to the appropriate application deadline to ensure timely receipt and processing of results.

* There is no institutional code for the IELTS examination. Copies of test scores are not considered official, but they may help the University locate your official test scores and are therefore useful when the application is processed. Applicants should request their official IELTS scores be sent to:

Admission Criteria/Conditions

Admission decisions are based on the following:

* Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on all college coursework attempted;

* be in good standing with most recent institution attended; and,

* information presented in the application.

NOTE: Admission to all undergraduate engineering programs requires at 2.5 GPA.

Transferring Grades

Grades for all transferable courses are used in the calculation of the GPA. This includes failing grades. (Plus and minus grade designations are not used; C+ is calculated as a C, B+ is calculated as a B, etc.

Transferring Credit

Not all prior coursework will be articulated for Post-Bachelor students. Course descriptions may be required for the articulation of credit to TAMUK equivalent courses.

Post-Bachelor students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor shortly after their admission decision is processed to start a degree plan and to make sure that they get registered for the most appropriate courses for their major.

Residence Requirements for Graduation

A minimum of 30 semester hours of 3000 and/or 4000 level coursework, with a minimum of 12 of the course hours in the major, MUST be completed in residence at Texas A&M University-Kingsville to qualify for a Baccalaureate degree.

TOEFL Alternatives

Students who have completed their entire formal education at the secondary or postsecondary level in the following countries are exempt from the TOEFL requirement:

American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Federated States of Micronesia, Grenada, Guam, Guyana, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, United Kingdom (all), Trinidad-Tobago, and Virgin Islands.

The following are considered equivalencies to the TOEFL scores of 61 (iBT)/500 (PBT):

* SAT Reading 27 (earned March 2016 or later); ACT verbal 21 English; TAKS 2200 English/ 3 writing; TAAS 1770; PTE overall 44; IELTS 6.0 or above overall band score.

* TAMUK ELTC completion of program letter with a minimum average of 85% and levels from intermediate to advanced.

* Completion of the advanced-level Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP) offered by the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC).

The following are considered equivalencies to the TOEFL scores of 79 (iBT)/550 (PBT):

* PTE overall 53 or IELTS 6.5 or above overall band score.

* TAMUK ELTC completion of program letter with a minimum average of 90% and levels from Low Advanced, Advanced Plus or High Advanced.

Bacterial Meningitis Vaccine

ALL new students under age 22 are required to show evidence of a bacterial meningitis vaccination within five years from the start of the semester for which they intend to enroll. More information will be available at time of admission.

General transcript information

Which transcripts do you require?

If you attended more than one post-secondary college/university, we require an official transcript from each school, including universities attended in the U.S.

What makes transcripts official?

Transcripts are considered official if they have an original signature of a school official or an original school seal. Accepted signatures include the Registrar, Principal, Controller of Examinations, or The Ministry of Education. In addition, we will accept documents that have been stamped as official by the embassy/consulate. U. S. transcripts must be sent directly from the institution. Photocopies or other duplications of a transcript, such as notarized, faxed or scanned copies are not considered official.

What about transcripts not in English?

Applicants from an institution that does not issue a transcript in English must submit the official native language transcript with an official English translation. Official translations are prepared by a recognized translator and include all original seals and/or signatures; photocopies are not accepted.

Do you accept education evaluations?

Evaluations of transcripts are considered unofficial.

What if I have only one copy of my transcript?

You may submit a scan or copy of your non-US document(s). If admitted, you will be required to show your original(s) upon arrival on campus. If you have already sent your original to a U.S. institution, the institution can also provide us with a copy of their records (see 3a).
