The university will allow credit for work done at other institutions that are fully approved by the appropriate regional accrediting agency. Students from other universities or colleges seeking admission must present evidence of honorable dismissal and official transcripts of their entire college history.

1. Complete and submit an Application for Admission. Students must complete the GoApplyTexas.org application. The application is available in paper form or online at GoApplyTexas.org.
2. Pay the $75 nonrefundable application fee. The fee must accompany the application.  Applicants can pay on Apply Texas or submit a bank money order in U.S. dollars on U.S. banks or use this website to make the payment: https://moneyconnect.tamuk.edu/C20209_tsa/web/login.jsp once the student is given their applicant ID (K#). The application fee is not refundable. 
3. Submit official copies of all transcripts from other universities and colleges. Former coursework taken at other universities will be translated into Texas A&M University-Kingsville equivalents based on whether it is equal in character and content. Even though general credit may be granted, not all coursework will necessarily be used for graduation requirements in degree plans. For a timely evaluation all credentials should be sent directly to the Office of Admission no later than three weeks prior to the opening of the term or semester for which the applicant is seeking admission. Send transcripts from all universities and colleges previously attended.
4. The Office of Admission does not accept unofficial transcripts in order to make admission decision.
5. The university permits students to transfer lower division (freshman and sophomore) courses from a community college as long as the work fulfills the particular degree requirements. No work taken at a community college can be transferred as an upper-division (junior or senior) level course.
6. Applicants with less than 12 college level transferable hours will have to submit final high school transcript and ACT and/or SAT scores for admission decision. You must have a 2.0 grade point average and meet admission requirements as an incoming freshman. See the freshman admission section for admission requirements.
7. An applicant who has more than 12 college level transferable hours must have an overall average of 2.0 to 4.0 for admission. This average is calculated on all transferred college work the applicant has taken, whether passed or failed. To be accepted into the College of Engineering, the overall grade point average from all college work must be 2.5 to 4.0. (Applicants to the College of Engineering with less than 60 transferable credits will be admitted to a Pre-Engineering program if the overall GPA falls between 2.0 to 2.49.)
8. A student must be in good standing with their most recent previous college or university.
9. Transfer coursework grade point average is brought in as CREDIT ONLY. Transfer grades cannot be used to raise the grade point average at this university. Work brought in after the initial enrollment will not be used to duplicate previously transferred courses.
10. Courses that are vocational or technical in nature are not automatically accepted by Texas A&M University-Kingsville. These courses must be approved by the appropriate academic departments and resubmitted to the Office of Admission for articulation.

Readmission: Former students who have had a break in enrollment of more than two years from Texas A&M University-Kingsville must update college records and submit a readmission application to the Office of Admission prior to being granted permission to register. Those who have taken college work at another institution and who are in good academic standing at that institution must request that all official transcripts be sent to the Office of Admission. Permission to register will be granted if a student is in good standing (a 2.0 overall grade point average) and the readmission application is submitted to the Office of Admissions. If work from former institutions is evaluated after readmission and it is determined that the student's transfer grade point average is below 2.0, the student will be deemed ineligible to continue. Students who do not meet published readmission criteria do not qualify for automatic readmission to Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Readmitted students in this category who wish to receive further review must contact the dean of the academic college for consideration. If the academic dean recommends admission, students will be admitted with an academic status of scholastic probation and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average during the first semester of re-enrollment at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Failure to maintain a 2.0 grade point average during the first term of re-enrollment will result in dismissal from the institution.
