Camp Conner provides summer fun for children six to 12 years old

The John E. Conner Museum at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will once again host their annual Camp Conner for children six to 12 years old. The camp runs from the Tuesday, June 11, through Friday, July 26. Each week will have activities based on a theme. Each group will meet one time per week. There will be no camp July 2-5 because of the July 4 holiday.

It is not too early to sign up for the camp as the sessions fill quickly. The cost is $15 per session or $72 for the entire six week camp. No refunds will be given. Payments must accompany registration forms. Registration packets may be picked up and returned at the Conner Museum, 905 W. Santa Gertrudis on the A&M-Kingsville campus. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All camp sessions will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon with a 15-minute snack provided by the museum. Campers six and seven years old may pick either Tuesday or Wednesday morning camp. Students eight and nine years old will come Thursdays and Fridays are reserved for children ages nine through 12.

The themes for each week include: 

June 11-14—Texas Indians and Activities

June 18-24—Clay Day, Air Dry and High Fire

June 25-28—Color Theory, Acrylic and Watercolor, Painting on Canvas and Watercolor Paper

July 2-5—Closed for July 4 holiday

July 9-12—Arthropods, Glow in the Dark Fireflies

July 16-19—Skeletons, Dem Bones, Dem Bones

July 23-26—Science and Science Experiments
