Theatre production shows troubles of bachelor life in the 1960s

The next offering by the theatre students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville takes a look back at the 1960s. Boeing Boeing tells the story of a swinging bachelor in a swinging time.

The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 10-12, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13, in The Little Theatre. Admission is $5.

Boeing Boeing tells the story of Bernard who lives in a Paris flat and is engaged to three gorgeous stewardesses at the same time. His perfect life gets bumpy when his friend, Robert, comes to stay, and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. 

Soon, all three stewardesses are in Paris simultaneously and timid Robert is forgetting which lies he told to which stewardess. 

Boeing Boeing was written by Marc Camoletti, translated by Beverly Cross and revised by Francis Evans. Corey Ranson, associate professor and Director of Theatre Activities in the art, communications and theatre department. 

In 2008, the play won a Tony Award for Best Revival of a play. 

The part of Bernard is played by Dylan Martin Mendoza, a junior communications major from Mercedes. He has been seen in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Company.

Nickolas Villarreal, a junior marketing major from Somerset, plays the part of Robert. He has appeared in Fiddler on the Roof, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Stones in the Dessert…Eterno and Crystal City 1969.        

Lauren Bunch, a pre-nursing major from Kingsville plays Gretchen. Bunch has been in Little Shop of Horrors, Same as Sarah, The Toby Show, Crystal City 1969, Playing with Toys and more.

The part of Berthe is played by Isabel Perez, a senior criminology major from Austin. Perez has previously acted in Crystal City 1969, Wizard of Oz, Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty.

Vanessa L. Valdez, a senior psychology major from Coppell, plays Gloria. Valdez has been seen in Clean House, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Stones in the Desert…Eterno.

Sabrina Vallejo, a senior business management major from El Campo, plays Gabriella. Vallejo has been in The Toby Show and Stones in the Desert…Eterno.
