College of Business Administration to host Seventh Annual Community Breakfast

The Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration will host their Seventh Annual Community Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, in the ballrooms of the Memorial Student Union Building. The event is co-hosted by the Kleberg County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by IBC Bank.

This event is geared toward providing an additional dimension to fiscal awareness and responsibility to students and to residents of Kingsville and the surrounding communities. Tickets are $10 per person or $80 for a table of eight. Online registration is required and no tickets will be available at the door.

This year’s speaker is Weston Smith who will talk about the Former HealthSouth and Its Failed Corporate Culture. Attendees will learn about the “former” HealthSouth and its failed corporate culture, fraud’s small beginnings, the deceptive rationalizations and how and why it grew.

About Weston Smith

Weston Smith began his career as a CPA with Ernst &Young, specializing in audit and healthcare consulting. He was hired by HealthSouth Corporation during its infancy and ultimately became CFO of the company with over 2,000 locations in all 50 states and five countries.

He was a participant in a financial statement fraud that ran for over 15 years with an earning overstatement of over $3 billion. Smith voluntarily exposed the fraud and accepted the consequences of his former actions. 

He is a lecturer and trainer with emphasis on fraud prevention and ethical conduct.
