Theatre students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will put on two shows in October, both in The Little Theatre with an admission of $5.

The first is The Typists, written by Corey Ranson, associate professor of theatre and director of theatre activities at the university. The Typists will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 12-13.

The Typists finds the actors in the mists of World War II and the battles are raging in the European and Pacific campaigns. These women have a job and that is to inform the country about the status of their sons. Sofi, who is new to the process, learns not all of our country can read English. Her journey to remedy that is one that is met with surprise and opposition that the perils and news of war does not soften.

The second offering for October will be The Nether, written by Jennifer Haley and directed by Ranson. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 19-21, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee Sunday, Oct. 22.

The Nether is a virtual wonderland that provides total sensory immersion. Just log in, choose an identity and indulge your every desire. When a young detective uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment, she triggers an interrogation into the darkest corners of the imagination.

Both The Typists and The Nether will be performed at the Kennedy Center American College State Festival at Angelo State University, Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 26-29.

Admission is free to Texas A&M-Kingsville student who show a valid identification card. For more information, call 361-593-3401.
