The Sigma Delta Pi, Gamma Lambda chapter at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host their 20th Student Symposium from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in Sam Fore Hall.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Laura Munoz, associate professor of history at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She will talk about Juan Crow’s Educational Legacy in South Texas.

Munoz specializes in Chicano and Latino history, women’s history and the history of education. As a social historian, she strives to teach history in way that illuminates the diverse experience of the American people.

She established the digital oral history collection Texas Women Speaking, which features the lives of women of color.

The symposium features presentations by students and also is sponsored by the Spanish program and the language and literature department.
