Standards of Progress
Effective Fall 2014, students using Hazlewood Legacy Act Exemption benefit MUST maintain an institutional 2.0 grade point average (GPA) for Undergraduate and 3.0 GPA for Graduate/Doctoral students.
Students must make satisfactory academic progress in accordance with TAMUK's Financial Aid Policy. This applies to:
- All Veterans
- Children and/or spouses of disabled veterans
This does not apply to:
- Children and/or spouses of veterans killed in action, missing in action, or who died due to a service-related illness or injury
These changes provide for hardship extensions. Students who do not meet TAMUK's Financial Aid Policy, must complete a term without Hazlewood and meet SAP to be reinstated.
** Students who wish to receive veteran's benefits and who transfer from another institution without the required 2.0 GPA for Under Graduate and 2.6 GPA for Graduate must visit the VA coordinator in the Javelina Enrollment Services Center before registering for classes to determine whether or not they are eligible for certification. The scholastic status of a student receiving veteran's benefits can be changed by attending summer school and meeting the same standards that apply in the long semester.
