Desktop Services and Service Desk
Desktop Services provides software installation and desktop imaging services to university owned computers. The current computer image includes Windows 10 and Office 2016. If your computer has an older version, call the Help Desk and create a ticket to have your computer updated. Please include a date and when you have a couple hours for the Operating System and Microsoft Office upgrade. They can also assist with locating appropriate vendors for software purchases.
Any software or hardware will require a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT).
Typical items that require a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT):
- Telecommunications
- Information kiosks
- Transaction machines
- Web site and application development
- Office equipment such as copiers and fax machines
- Computers (mobile or desktop)
- Web application software
- All computer software
- Audio Visual devices
- Information resources provided by hosted or managed contract providers

TAMUK computers have a standard set of software that is used campus wide. Viewfinity allows users the administrator access for the Install, Update, and Removal of software packages and patches. Faculty and Staff computers will have the Viewfinity agent. iTech does not install the Viewfinity agent on student or lab computers.
To verify to see if you have the system installed in your computer, check the task bar on your computer for a blue box with the infinity symbol.
