Final graduation requirements


  • All students wishing to graduate must have applied for candidacy following the appropriate steps outlined here by the appropriate deadline.  
  • Make sure your Final Degree Plan is set in Degreeworks.
  • Requirements vary based on the plan set by your College and Department.

Check with your Graduate Coordinator to verify ALL due dates with your College and Department. 

They often need to see items for submission before they can be released to Graduate Studies, and have their own EARLIER deadlines.

Graduate Studies will need the following:

  1. Submit the Comprehensive Examination Report Form



Graduate Studies will need the following:

  • Research Project Final Submission Form with all signatures required from the Department and the College Dean*
  • First Page of the TurnItIn Similarity Report with the Project Supervisor’s signature
    • If the similarity report is greater than or equal to 15%, a detailed explanation of the high level of similarity must be provided in writing by your faculty advisor and submitted in addition to the documents required.
  • Comprehensive Examination Report Form

 *Prior to obtaining any signatures on any forms or pages Project Supervisors are encouraged to send the Student to the Ofoffice of Research and Graduate Studies to make sure it is in the correct format. Pages with incorrect formatting, official names and/or titles WILL be rejected and a corrected page with new signatures will be required.




Graduate Studies will need the following: 

Step 1: After a successful defense, the student will submit the following final requirements:
  1. Submit the final manuscript printed on regular paper including a clean and publishable signature page with committee members' signatures. 

    1. If you followed a particular journal’s format, you must provide a printed sample and the format guidelines.

  2. Submit the signed hard copy of the first page of the turn-it-in report, which includes the similarity index.

    1. Note if the similarity report is Fifteen percent (15%) and higher a detailed explanation of the reason why the similarity is higher than the 15% must be signed by your faculty advisor and submitted in addition to the documents required.
  3. Submit a soft copy of the final document (Word and PDF version preferred) along with the complete copy of the turn-it-in report on a USB flash drive or CD (USB/CD will not be returned).

  4. Submit the Thesis Defense and Comprehensive Examination Report Form with committee member signatures.

  5. Submit the Thesis and Dissertation Copyright Form

Step 2: After the Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies has approved of the manuscript, the staff members in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies will scan the signature page to the student.
Step 3: The completed signature page will be emailed to the student to be inserted into the final document.
Step 4: Submit the final thesis to ProQuest. Follow the instructions to submit the full document.

  4. The Dissertation Status Report Form with committee member signatures. 

  5. Submit the Thesis and Dissertation Copyright Form

  6. Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) certificate (optional) for Ph.D. students only (Wildlife Science, Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Energy Systems Engineering).
