Victoria Packard receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis

Victoria Packard, coordinator of instructional services and distance learning at the Jernigan Library on the campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, has been named a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

Packard is among the first to receive this award which celebrates professional accomplishments and longevity as a Marquis biographee. In order to have been considered for this award, Packard must have met at least three of the five requirements. Less than five percent of Marquis listees qualify for this award. 

About Victoria Packard

Packard joined the staff of the Jernigan Library in 1995 as government information/maps/reference and instruction foundation center cooperating collection supervisor. She became a tenured associate professor in 1999. She is currently a professor who teaches Information Literacy in addition to her regular library duties.

Prior to coming to Texas A&M-Kingsville, Packard worked at the Hodges Library at University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

She received her associate’s degree in psychology and sociology from Kishwaukee College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts-art history, weaving and textiles from University of Northern Colorado. Packard received her master’s degree in government documents, cartography, reference and instruction from University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

She has numerous publications and presentations both refereed and non-refereed. Packard has been honored several times by MERLOT including Peer Reviewer Extraordinaire twice and being named Co-Editor to the Library and Instruction section and being appointed to the Library Editorial Board.
