Report a Crime

Use this form to report any crime or incident that has come to your attention as a Campus Security Authority. This might be a situation that you have witnessed, the victim or complainant has shared with you, or someone else has told you about another person. Once submitted our staff will review the information and determine if it is a Clery-related crime to be included in our annual report. If in doubt, report it. You may be contacted for additional clarification. Call the University Police Department immediately at (361) 593-2611 to report a crime that is ongoing or other incidents that are urgent and potentially endangering the health and safety of others.

Please inform the victim of a crime who is reluctant to involve the police or does not want to pursue action within the university disciplinary system or the criminal justice system, that a confidential report can be filed without revealing their identity. The purpose of a confidential report is to comply with their wish to keep the matter confidential, while taking steps to ensure the future safety of themselves and others. With such information, the university can keep an accurate record of the number of incidents involving members of the university community, determine where there is a pattern of crime with regard to a particular location, method, or assailant, and alert the campus community to potential danger. Reports filed in this manner are still counted and included in the annual crimes statistics for the institution. Inquire of the victim if they give permission for the University Police Department to contact them directly to gain additional information about the incident.
