What is Javelina Promise?
For nearly 100 years, Texas A&M University-Kingsville has provided educational access and opportunity to generations of students. Javelina Promise is our renewed pledge to ensure a world-class and affordable education is attainable for Texas A&M-Kingsville students by eliminating financial barriers to earning a degree.
First time in college (FTIC), transfer undergraduate students and current continuing undergraduate students who qualify for Javelina Promise will have their tuition and fees fully covered for up to 4-years.*
Continuing students and new students admitted to Texas A&M University-Kingsville, who complete their FAFSA/TASFA are automatically considered for Javelina Promise. No additional application is required.
Note: *Semesters must be eight consecutive fall and spring semesters. Transfer students' program length eligibility will be pro-rated based on credits already earned.

Enroll full-time for at least 12 credit hours per semester (Fall/Spring only)***
Be admitted to a degree-seeking program and working on first bachelor’s degree
***Continuing students must enroll before June 1 for Fall or December 1 for Spring.
New students must enroll before August 1 for Fall or January 1 for Spring.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Javelina Promise Program will cover tuition and mandatory fees for eligible students by first applying federal and state aid, such as Pell Grant and TEXAS Grant, scholarships, and other gift aid. Any remaining tuition and mandatory fees not covered by the aforementioned programs, will be covered by this award.
Students who meet all of the following requirements:
- Are admitted as an undergraduate first-time in college or as a new undergraduate transfer student
- Are Texas residents
- Are admitted to a degree-seeking program and working on your first bachelor’s degree
- Have a total household income of less than $65,000
- Have a valid FAFSA or TASFA (if not eligible to complete a FAFSA) on file
- Demonstrate Financial Need according to your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements
- Enroll for 12 semester credit hours or more during the fall and spring semesters at Texas A&M University-Kingsville
- Stay continuously enrolled each semester to remain eligible for the award
Are not in default on an educational loan
New first-time in college students who meet eligibility requirements may receive the award for 8 long semesters or upon graduation, whichever occurs first. New undergraduate transfer students who meet eligibility requirements will be pro-rated based on how many credits they have completed to determine how long they may receive the award for.
If meeting all criteria for the Javelina Promise, students can expect to see the award in their financial aid award package after bills have been posted for the Fall or Spring semester. This will usually occur in early August for Fall or early January for Spring. Any remaining tuition and mandatory fees not covered by federal and state aid, such as Pell Grant, TEXAS Grant, scholarships, waivers and other gift aid, will be covered by this award.
There is no application for the Javelina Promise. All students will be automatically considered. However, students must complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid) to be considered for this program.
No, this program will only cover tuition and mandatory fees.
