KINGSVILLE (February 16, 2024) — The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will celebrate the annual Engineers Week, with a five-day series of events beginning Monday, Feb. 19.

The week celebrates engineers' impact, and engages students in the world of engineering to promote engineering awareness and honor the accomplishments of all engineers.

College of Engineering assistant director of student recruitment and outreach Jesus A. Reina says the department always looks to make a lasting impact with those who attend.

"We want the public to know that E-Week is about making a positive impact, celebrating all engineers, and inspiring future engineers,” he said. “We're excited to welcome attendees from all over to experience the excellence of the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering and to let these young people and their families know that here, we take their success personally. And, that we strive to ensure that when they walk through our doors, they know they are one step closer to a better and brighter future."

The week will get started with the Kick-off Block Party at the Javelina Engineering Complex front lawn from 4-6 p.m. Monday, February 19, followed by an alumni spotlight panel in Kleberg Hall with distinguished TAMUK engineers on Tuesday and Social Media Engagement Day featuring the College of Engineering’s Student Spotlight at the engineering complex first floor lobby on Wednesday.

Thursday will be the Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day event at the Memorial Student Union Building ballrooms. The event will feature a lunch, guest speakers and panel discussions meant to introduce young women to opportunities at the TAMUK College of Engineering as well as encouraging them to pursue education and careers in STEM Fields.

“Our guest speakers include industry professionals, current graduate students and a Ph.D. student,” Reina said. “All of whom have an engineering degree from TAMUK, offering a diverse range of perspectives and insights into the engineering field.”

The week will conclude Friday morning with a design competition at the MSUB ballrooms. The competition is expected to feature more than 28 high schools and middle schools from around South Texas.
