KINGSVILLE (April 5, 2024) — Texas A&M University-Kingsville Associate Director of Veterinary Technology Christine Hoskinson was recognized as the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) Licensed Veterinary Technician of the Year at their annual conference in Irving, Texas.
Awards are given annually at the TVMA conference to recognize outstanding contributions to the field of veterinary medicine. Award recipients are nominated by colleagues and selected by the TVMA Awards Committee.
“I was surprised,” Hoskinson said of the award. “I can admit that I know I am involved in a variety of veterinary organizations and I am always willing to help and participate, but I really just look at it as part of my job as an educator and a necessity to protecting a career choice that I am passionate about.”
“I am grateful to work with amazing colleagues both at TAMUK and within the veterinary profession and thankful for all their support and recognition,” she added.
When selecting an award recipient, TVMA Awards Committee considers professional achievements, actions in the veterinary community and TVMA Participation.
In 2014, Hoskinson joined the Texas A&M-Kingsville Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Technology Staff in 2014 as an instructor in the then-new Veterinary tech (VETT) Program.
Hoskinson completed her Master’s degree in Range and Wildlife Management in 2017 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Veterinary Technology in 2018.
She became an LVT in 2009 upon graduation from Medaille College and spent five years in Alabama serving as a technician and hospital manager at the Birmingham Zoo.
