KINGSVILLE (June 26, 2024) —The Flute Ensemble from the School of Music at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, has been invited to perform in a Showcase Recital at the National Flute Association Conference Aug. 1-4 in San Antonio. The 20-member ensemble will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first day of the conference.
The ensemble that includes undergraduate and graduate students will perform the program Media Vita: In the Midst of Life, Reflections on 2020, which includes a newly commissioned work by Mexican composer Ruben Flores.
The program selected by the Flute Ensemble is as follows:
Media Vita, Orlando di Lasso (1532-1594, arr. Carla Rees;
the world premiere of Estado de Emergencia, Ruben Flores (b. 1969);
La Disparition, Francois Bru b. 1969;
Let Me Weep (Lascia ch’io pianga) from Rinaldo, Georg Friederic Handel (1685-1759), arr. David Marlatt; and
E Pluribus, Unum; Nicole Chamberlain (b. 1977).
