Step 4: Make sure you have received a Bacterial Meningitis Vaccine.

Protect yourself and your fellow Javelinas by showing proof that you have received this vaccine.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, all entering students at an institution of higher education are required to show proof of an initial meningococcal vaccination or a booster dose during the five-year period prior to enrolling. They must get the vaccine at least 10 days before the semester begins. Without the evidence of vaccination, a student cannot attend classes on campus and will be dropped from all classes on the first class day.

Acceptable proof includes one of the following:

  • A form showing the signature or stamp of a physician or his/her designee, or public health personnel that shows the month, day, and year the vaccination dose or booster was administered
  • An official immunization record generated from a state or local health authority that shows the month, day, and year the vaccination or booster dose was administered
  • An official record received from school officials (includes records from out of state) For more information, students and parents or guardians may contact the Health Care Clinic at 361-593-3196.

You may submit your record by mail, fax, or in person. To protect the security of your health records, we cannot accept emailed submissions

As an incoming student, you must satisfy the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements unless you qualify for an exemption or waiver.

Before you can take the TSI Assessment test, you must first complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA).
