B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with Teacher Certification

A Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies prepares you for a teaching career in the grade level and subject area of your choice. In our department, we offer teacher certification in:

We also offer certifications in Art, Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Family and Consumer Science, History, Journalism, Kinesiology, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Social Studies, Spanish, and Theater Arts. Alternative Certification Program

Our Alternative Certification Program (ACP) offers a nontraditional route to certification designated for individuals who already hold a Bachelors degree. Please see the ACP page for more information.

We offer five programs at the Master's Level:

Doctorate in Bilingual Education

We also offer a doctorate in Bilingual Education (the first doctoral program in the nation in Bilingual Education).

Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Teacher and Bilingual Education! The Department of Teacher and Bilingual Education serves the entire university as the home for the Educator Preparation Program at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. All paths leading to Texas certification, regardless of college, whether undergraduate or graduate, are guided by the College of Education and Human Performance through the Department of Teacher and Bilingual Education and the Center for Educator Preparation Services. We offer twelve unique undergraduate teacher preparation degrees, four specialized master's programs, and the nation's first Bilingual Education Doctorate. Highlights of our programs are our outstanding faculty who offer nurturing academic environments for learning through traditional, hybrid, and online course delivery. We house the King Ranch Early Childhood Center, and we sponsor the Annual Conference in Bilingual Education, now in its 40th year.
