Membership

The Consortium is primarily open to the local refining and chemical industry of South Texas or support service industry, upon entering into a collaboration agreement with A&M - Kingsville and payment of an annual fee of $1500.

Non-membership companies are welcomed at workshops on a space-available basis.

• Local consortium training equals significant savings to industry and allows their personnel to be accessible in case of emergency.
• Engineering faculty at A&M-Kingsville become more familiar with industry needs. This can lead to improvement in the curriculum  of various disciplines by stressing the topics of high importance, which assures more competent graduates.
• Local Industry and A&M-Kingsville cooperate in research and Consulting.
• Cooperation means more internship opportunities and job placement  for A&M-Kingsville Students.

History

In early 2003,at a local meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Dr. Ali A. Pilehvari, Professor and chair of Texas A&M

University - Kingsville  Engineering- Port Industries Consortium.

Today the Consortium is run by a board that meets every three months to determine activities. The board is made up of a representative from each member company, along with several faculty members from the Dotterweich College of Engineering. The Group determines, through surveys and direct feedback, what industry topics need to be covered and which nationally-known expert will provide the seminar.

Mission 

The consortium was developed to foster close cooperation between the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering at Texas A&M - Kingsville and the local industry.
