Message from the Chair of Department
Welcome to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is one of six departments within the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering. It offers two bachelor degree programs (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering) and three master degree programs (Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, and most recently in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the Master of Science in Mechatronics). The faculty also supervise students admitted in the multidisciplinary Ph.D. programs offered by the College of Engineering. For the academic year 2019-2020, the student enrollment marked more than 500 undergraduate students and more than 160 graduate students. The undergraduate mechanical engineering program at TAMUK is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The 2018 US News & World Report ranked our Industrial Engineering online graduate program as the 66th best in the country, higher than such schools as the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of North Dakota.
The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering teaching, research, and service focus on student-centered learning and engagement in a teaching and research environment that is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and computing facilities. The growing department is located in the Engineering Complex Building and is committed to providing an excellent education to its students. The faculty are actively engaged in research and development, you will find examples throughout their profile website on how their work is making an impact on preparing our students for future careers.
