Genocide

Y is for Yazidi

Y azidi people consider Y azidism as both an ethnic and religious group. Yazidism is a monotheistic religion and is composed of ancient Mesopotamian religions that use the aspects of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The terrorist group ISIS is the one who has committed the horrific act of genocide. Yazidi people were the targets of this genocide that lasted from 2014 to 2017.

"My life was Beautiful. .. But two hours changed my entire life ... They came with their black flag, they killed all of our men and raped our girls ... ", this line was said by a victim of the genocide of the Yazidi people. When hearing the name Yazidi, you would think this genocide happened decades ago. The fact is this genocide started in 2014 and ended by the year 2017. The victimized woman at the beginning of this paragraph was fourteen years old on August 3, 2014, when the terroristic group of ISIS came and killed the Yazidi men and kept the women and children as hostages.

The young woman then states all the horrific acts that happened to her and her people while she was there in the prison where she was held for six months. The young woman shares a story that would haunt her mind until the day she dies. The young woman states "I saw a man who was over forty-years-old take a ten-year-old girl and the girl was screaming, I will never forget her screaming and yelling for her mother and father. But we could do nothing." The. young woman goes on to tell about her own experience during the Yazidi genocide. The young woman stated "They killed my father in front of my own eyes, I saw his blood on their hands ... All I heard was screaming and crying, they weren't feeding anyone ... He picked me out of one hundred fifty girls drawing lots ... He was so ugly, like a beast, with his long hair and he smelt so bad and it was frightening to look upon him. Every day for six months he raped me ... they would hit me, and I wanted to cry, but my smile was my weapon ... I tried to kill myself. .. ". She goes on to tell her interviewer that the reason she doesn't cry while she's telling her story is because she ran out of tears to shed back in the genocide.

When acts such as this one are committed it leaves a humongous scar, a scar that will never leave the Yazidi survivors. Fathers all killed and mothers and daughters all raped by the horrible and malicious intentions of the terrorist group ISIS. This not only leaves a scar on them, but it also leaves a scar on humanity. For someone to lose their own state of mind and agree with a group that wants to eradicate something off the face of the earth is unforgivable. The actions that transpire in a genocide should not be tolerated in the slightest and the most horrific sentence ( death) should await all and whoever has committed an act such as this one. The Yazidi people will be forever scarred by this and I wouldn't blame any Yazidi survivors if they never forgive the people of ISIS for what they have done to them.
