Glenda L. Villagran, a junior from the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, is striving to build bridges and encourages prospective students to join the ranks of Javelinas who are creating connections at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering.
From La Joya, Texas, Villagran explains, "I chose Texas A&M-Kingsville because of the small class sizes, the involvement of instructors, and the tight-knit community.”
Highlighting the personalized attention and the community-driven atmosphere at the College of Engineering, Villagran credits her professors for instilling in her the confidence to pursue engineering.

"My professors help us with research opportunities and assignments, providing support whenever needed," Villagran says.
Reflecting on her transition from her town to university life, Villagran expresses gratitude to Dr. David Ramirez, Chair of the Department of Environmental Engineering. "I want to thank Dr. Ramirez for being so supportive, especially during our freshman design project, which really gave me an idea of what I would be doing as an engineer when it comes to problem-solving."
Villagran's message to aspiring students echoes her own journey: Dedicate time to your goals, capitalize on the resources available at Texas A&M-Kingsville, stay organized, and join a student organization to create connections and practice social skills.
