Campus Meetings

  1. The seminar series for the Standards for Material Testing, Characterization, and Applications certificate will run Mondays at 1 pm April 1 through April 22.  All seminars are available in person in ENGC 138 or via Zoom.  See schedule for more information on guest speakers.
  2. ITE meets today (April 18) at 5 pm in ENGC 275.
  3. The CEAE Graduation Lunch will be held May 9 from 11 am to 1 pm in SUB Ballroom B to honor May, August, and December 2024 graduates from B.S. CEEN, B.S. AEEN, and M.S. CEEN programs.  Please register no later than May 1 at:https://commerce.cashnet.com/TAMUKEngineering

Job and Research Openings

  1. The National Resource Conservation Service is searching for civil engineers in Corpus Christi, Robstown, and Wharton.  Apply on USAJobs.  These are full-time positions for recent graduates or students graduating in May.
  2. Spring is the season for applying for Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs).  REUs are funded by the National Science Foundation at universities across the country.  An REU is a paid summer research experience.  Most applications open in February and close in early March.  See https://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/reu/ to search for an opportunity that fits your major / interests.  
  3. Applications are open for the Summer 2024 Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program, sponsored by the National Nuclear Security Administration and Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. 
  4. Illinois Department of Transportation has several job openings. 

Scholarships

  1. The Civil Engineering Graduate Scholarship is open for application until May 1.
  2. The American Institute of Steel Construction has announced several scholarships.  Applications due May 1.
  3. The Department of Defense offers a SMART scholarship for students pursuing STEM degrees.  This comes with tuition, annual stipend, internship, and a guaranteed job post-graduation.

  1. Looking for tutoring ?  Stop by the JESSC or Lucio Hall!  Remember the JESSC offers a wide range of services to foster student success.

  3. Visit Scholarship Universe to apply for all TAMUK scholarships.
  4.  All CEAE students are eligible to participate in new a transcripted certificate program focusing on materials and standards.  Contact Dr. Bailey for details.
  5. The Corpus Christi chapter of ASCE and several local firms are providing shadowing opportunities for students interested in visiting local engineering offices.  Please email Dr. Bailey if you want to participate.  Open to both CE and AE students. 
  6. FE PREP COURSE AVAILABLE! Discounted PPI program available to students for $95.  Each student will receive access to an electronic copy of PPI’s review manual, 2 attempts at a 110 question mock exam, and 6 months of access to online questions and other review material.  Interested students should contact Austin McCoy (austin.mccoy@tamuk.edu).
  7. Thinking about graduate school?  The fast-track program allows undergraduate students to take up to three classes that count for both undergraduate and graduate credit.  For more information, speak to Dr. Choi (jong-won.choi@tamuk.edu).  Graduate fellowship opportunities are available for talented undergraduates wanting to work on their M.S. in Civil Engineering at TAMUK.
