Dr. Amit Verma

Professor of Electrical Engineering

Dr. Amit Verma received the Ph.D. degree on 2006 from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. From 2005 to 2006 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the UARC at NASA Ames Research Centre, Moffett Field, CA. Since 2006 he has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, TX.

Research and Experience: Dr. Amit Verma has extensive experience on modeling charge transport in nanotubes and nanowires. He has also been involved in the experimental realization of an all-Si based optical system for intra-chip
data transfer. Recently Verma has been involved in developing the first set of microwave antennas with the active patch composed of carbon nanotubes and ultra-thin metal films. He has also recently started work on developing solar cells using carbon nanotubes and small diameter silicon nanowires, and investigating the effects of physical strain on the opto-electronic properties of silicon nanowires.
