Intensive Accelerated Training in Cyber Intelligence (IAT-CI)

About this Program

Intensive Accelerated Training in Cyber Intelligence (IAT-CI) is a 10-day concentrated training program that will provide accelerated learning in cyber intelligence. This training will prepare the participants to pursue studies in computer science, including minoring in Cyber Intelligence.

Eligibility

  • U.S. citizen.
  • Students currently enrolled or who have already graduated from high school, community college, or an undergraduate degree program.
  • Prior computer science knowledge is not required to apply.

Program Details

Modules:

This training will include several different modules over 10 days:

  1. Cyber ethics
  2. Linux fundamentals
  3. Cryptography
  4. Security fundamentals
  5. Introduction to programming
  6. Software security
  7. Network security
  8. Malware
  9. Social engineering
  10. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in Cybersecurity

These modules begin with the basic concepts of security and extend to more advanced concepts of network intrusions. The training will simplify different cybersecurity concepts. Additionally, the curriculum will also include basic programming principles, which are necessary for secure coding standards.

Hands-on Activities:

As part of this IAT-CI training, we will engage the participants with simulated scenario-based practical hands-on lab activities, active learning exercises, and capture-the-flag (CTF) competitions. Mechanisms of various hacking attacks like password cracking, system intrusion, vulnerability analysis, and social engineering attacks will be covered over the duration of the training in an engaging environment. Participants will complete all the activities in groups. The training will utilize Raspberry Pis, preconfigured with Linux operating systems. All the open-source tools needed in the modules and the lab scenarios for all the activities will be built into the Raspberry Pis. CTF competitions will be conducted to facilitate fun student learning exercises.

Delivery and Schedule:

The IAT-CI modules will be covered through 10-days of face-to-face in-person full-day training sessions. The first IAT-CI program will tentatively be offered from January 3-16, 2024 and then again from August 1-14, 2024, and every year in January and August thereafter. Delivery will take place in a lab in the Engineering Complex at TAMUK. The duration of the face-to-face training will be 54 instructional hours (6 instructional hours / day) over 10 days.

The daily schedule will be as follows:

  • The morning sessions will consist of:
    • 9:30 am - 10:30 am
    • 15-minute break
    • 10:45 am -12:45 pm
  • This will be followed by a 45-minute lunch break.
  • The afternoon sessions will consist of:
    • 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
    • 15-minute break
    • 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm

Each IAT-CI training program will be limited to 30 participants.
