Notice for Protected Students Policy

Notice for Students Using Chapter 31 and Chapter 33 Education Benefits:

In compliance with the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018 (section 3679 of title 38, U.S. Code), Texas A&M University-Kingsville has implemented a policy to support students entitled to educational assistance under Chapter 31 (Veterans Readiness and Employment) or Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill). The university allows covered individuals to attend or participate in their courses beginning on the date they provide a certificate of eligibility (or a Statement of Benefits from VA.gov or VAF 28-1905 form for Chapter 31) and continuing until either:

  1. Payment from the VA is made to the university
  2. 90 days after the university certifies the student’s tuition and fees upon receiving the certificate

Texas A&M University-Kingsville will not impose penalties on covered individuals due to delays in VA funding disbursement. This includes waiving late payment fees, granting access to classes and facilities, and not requiring additional borrowing to meet financial obligations during this period. To qualify for this policy, students must be registered and have submitted a Request for Certification. This policy does not exempt covered individuals from meeting academic or administrative requirements. If you believe a penalty was incorrectly applied to your account, please contact the Military & Veteran Resource Center to have it reviewed and removed if appropriate.
