TCEQ-Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) strives to protect our state's public health and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development. The computer-based versions of the TCEQ tests are very user-friendly and you will receive an immediate score upon completion of the test. All applicants must be pre-approved by the TCEQ before applicants are eligible to take exams. This CBT (computer based test) is as accurate and reliable as the traditional paper/pencil version.

Information to applicants
- Must present one (1) form of valid ID
- Examples would be a current (not expired) Driver's License or State ID,Military ID,Passport
- TCEQ Approval Letter
- No Walk-Ins Allowed
Test Scores
Scores will be available upon completion of test.
Important Information for Testers
All applicants must be pre-approved by the TCEQ before they are eligible to take tests. Once approved, the applicant will be eligible to attempt a total of 4 tests during a one-year approval period. You may immediately re-test if you have not passed on your first try. If you fail the second test, you must wait 30 days to re-test. The test fee must be paid each time an exam is taken.
Testing space is limited and often times in high demand. The testing fee is non-refundable. You must register online and schedule your exam. No walk-ins are allowed.
Allowed Items During Exams
- Scratch Paper (will be provided)
- Non-programmable Calculator
- Landscape Irrigation-Engineering Scale and Graph Paper
- Municipal Solid Waste-Training Manuals, notes, etc.(These are open book examinations)
Prohibited Items
- Cell phones
- Watches
- Alarms
- Dictionaries
- Translators
- Any handheld electronic or photographic device
- Mechanical pens and pencils
- Food, drinks, gum, candy or tobacco
If any of these items are brought into the testing area, the examinee will be immediately dismissed, scores will be voided and administration fees will not be refunded.
Communication among the examinees, for any reason, is prohibited during the test. Communication should only be done with Testing Personnel. Any examinee observed communicating with other examinees will be dismissed immediately and the incident will be reported to the TCEQ. There will be no refund for testing fee.
