Javelina Rodeo Team to host college championship rodeo

The Texas A&M University-Kingsville Rodeo Team will host the Texas A&M University-Kingsville AEP College Rodeo Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27, at the Equestrian Center at the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown. 

Teams from 10 other colleges and universities in the region are expected to compete. A preliminary round will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and the finals begin at 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free

Events at this year’s rodeo include bullriding, bareback riding, tiedown calf roping, girls breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, girls goat tying, team roping and girls barrel racing.

Texas A&M-Kingsville has the only collegiate rodeo team south of San Antonio. They compete in 10 rodeos per season to accumulate points for the college championships.
