The art of quilting is on display at the John E. Conner Museum at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in the annual exhibit A Celebration of Quilts 2016: A Heritage of Texas Quilts. It will be in the west wing of the museum through Thursday, March 17.

The exhibit features 36 pieces, most sewn by members of the Kingsville Saturday Quilters. Many of the quilts are specially designed to interpret the quilter’s challenge theme. This year’s theme was Texas Quilts created to embody the spirit of Texas.

This year’s exhibit also features some very old quilts that have been passed down through several generations

The Kingsville Saturday Quilters meet the fourth Saturday of the month at the Kleberg County Extension Building in Kingsville.

The museum is located at 905 W. Santa Gertrudis Ave. Museum hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission to the museum is free, however, donations are accepted. For more information, call 361-593-2810.
