Verification is a process used to validate certain information you entered on your FAFSA. Students are randomly selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are selected for Verification, you will receive an email from our office describing the Verification Group you have been assigned to. The documents you are required to submit are based upon your Verification Group. You will need to complete and submit all required forms and documentation before any money can be disbursed to you. The sooner you verify your information, the sooner you'll be able to receive the aid you're eligible for.

Processing usually takes two to three weeks, but it can take up to four weeks during the peak season. Because verification must be completed in advance of disbursing any money from any financial aid program, it is vital to send complete and correct information as quickly as possible.
2014-2015 Verification Deadline
Per Federal regulations the final deadline to process corrections for the 2015 aid year is September 28, 2015. To allow time for accurate processing, the deadline to submit verification documents to TAMUK for 2014-2015 financial aid is September 7, 2015 or 120 days after your last day of enrollment at TAMUK, whichever comes first. You must have an official SAR and EFC processed by the Department of Education by June 30, 2015, or by the last day of your enrollment, whichever comes first. Submission of documents does not guarantee a disbursement of funds. Eligibility for a disbursement would be considered for Federal Pell Grant only (undergraduate students only). To be considered for a Direct Loan or Campus-based funds disbursement, you must submit any required verification documents to our office 15 business days before the official closing of the semester in which you are enrolled at least half time.

Verification Deadlines and Student Responsibility:
When a student is selected for verification, it is the responsibility of the student to submit all required documents in a timely manner to receive any aid that the student may be eligible for. All required documentation will be requested and listed in the requirements section in Blue & Gold Connection. Students will be notified via email and prompted to log into Blue & Gold to view the requirements that are needed. Students should provide all requested documentation as soon as possible after requested, but no later than 30 days before the official close of the semester in which you are enrolled to receive all aid that may be available, including Federal Pell grant and direct student loans.
NOTICE: If the Office of Student Financial Aid suspects that a student or other individual has purposely provided false or misleading information to fraudulently obtain federal funds, you may be reported to the U.S. Office of Inspector General, and may be subject to fine, sentenced to jail, or both by the U.S. Department of Education.
