Preamble of the Delta Chi Constitution:

“We, the members of The Delta Chi Fraternity, believing that great advantages are to be derived from a brotherhood of college and university men, appreciating that close association may promote friendship, develop character, advance justice, and assist in the acquisition of a sound education, do ordain and establish this Constitution”

It has been pointed out that the four most important words in the Preamble are not what most members assume: “Friendship”, “Character”, “Justice”, and “Education”. Instead, it is suggested that the four most important words are “Promote,”” Develop,” “Advance,” and “Assist.” The point is that “Fraternity” and, in particular, “Delta Chi” is not just about what “is” but what we, as members, should actually be doing. It is our actions that make Delta Chi, which is why the key words are the verbs instead of the nouns.

Philanthropy:

Jimmy V Foundation

Delta Chi is proud to have a philanthropic partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research. An American college basketball player, coach, and broadcaster known as Jim Valvano, with the partnership of ESPN, founded the V Foundation to provide cancer research grants. Endowed by ESPN, The V Foundation operates with no overhead costs, which allows all donations to be donated directly to cancer research.

Our active and alumnus members join hands in fighting cancer together with The V Foundation for Cancer Research. Each semester, we host various fundraising events and educate our campus community on the importance of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. Our strong partnership with The V Foundation allows each donor to make a greater impact on finding cures for cancer.

Mission Statement:

Promote friendship, develop character, advance justice, and assist in the acquisition of a sound education.
