Javelina Health Clinic

Texas A&M University-Kingsville is partnering with Community Action Corporation of South Texas (CACOST) to offer students high-quality, non-emergent, primary care services on campus.

Services are available by walk-in or appointment. For inquires or to schedule an appointment, please contact the Javelina Health Clinic at 361-239-0600. Virtual telehealth services will also be available for students who have established care.

Health services are available at no additional cost to currently enrolled students.

Location:
Javelina Health Clinic is located at the Student Health and Wellness Building at 1210 N. Retama St.

TAMUK students may also access primary care services at any of the CACOST health center locations at no additional cost. Visit www.CACOST.org for locations and hours of operation.

FAQ

Current students will not have to pay for a primary care visit.

Students are eligible to receive dental services using their insurance. If the student is uninsured, they can apply for the sliding fee scale discount program.

CACOST will provide high-quality primary care services to TAMUK students and Texas A&M University Irma Rangel School of Pharmacy students at the Mobile Clinic, located on the Kingsville campus.

This includes the following basic services for no additional fee:
  • Clinical office visits (face-to-face or virtual) for currently enrolled students
  • Examination, diagnosis, and treatment of acute medical conditions (i.e., bronchitis, strep throat, mononucleosis, UTI, etc.)
  • First aid care of non-life-threatening injuries, including sprains, strains, cuts
  • Sexual health exams, STI, pregnancy, etc.
  • Routine gynecological services, contraceptive counseling
  • Routine physicals (sports, academic programs)
  • Access to convenient and affordable medication, including pharmaceuticals
  • Immunizations including for tuberculosis, influenza and COVID-19
  • Triage and referral to specialists, urgent care, emergency care, or advanced care

Students may sign up as a patient by downloading Community Action’s free Healow App via the App Store or Google Play.

Using the Healow App enables you to:

  • Register with CACOST by completing new patient paperwork
  • schedule appointments
  • view medication
  • request refills
Students may also sign up as a patient by calling our office and getting connected to the Patient Portal.

If you are new to our patient portal call
361-239-0600 to receive login credentials.

Sign in using the credentials we have given you. If you have finished the setup of your patient portal account from the website you can now download the FREE Healow app for your smartphone and get it setup.
When you launch the app you will need to:
  1. Add the practice code, ADHGAD, in the section below “Find My Doctor”
  2. Select Login after entering the code
  3. Enter the username given to you by the clinic
  4. You will be prompted to “Select Relationship”
  5. Enter the password you created for your patient portal
  6. Agree to the terms and conditions
  7. Create a 4 digit pin number

Students can schedule their appointment via the following methods:
  • Download the Free Healow App; Utilize the Healow App
  • Call 361-239-0600 to Schedule their Appointment
  • Walk-ins are welcome

If necessary, student patients will be provided with electronic prescriptions to their pharmacy of choice.

CACOST delivers both telemedicine & telehealth services (phone & virtual visit) if the student is an established patient. To be considered an established patient, a student must have visited the clinic for an in-person visit or through a virtual visit utilizing the clinic’s MedPod health cart technology.

Students will not pay a visit cost while visiting another CACOST location. Please visit www.cacost.org for a list of other locations and hours.

Mental Health Services will continue to be provided by TAMUK. If further treatment is needed, the clinician will treat based on their clinical assessment. 

CACOST Health Center is providing medical services from 10 am to 2pm on the following Saturdays:

  • September 7, 21
  • October 5, 19
  • November 2, 16
  • December 7

Basic Services include the following:

  • Immunizations including for tuberculosis, influenza, and COVID-19
  • Triage and referral to specialists, urgent care, emergency care, or advanced care
  • Flu, Strep, RSV, and COVID-19 Testing

​**No Lab Work or Blood Draws are conducted on Saturdays.
