South TX Env. Engg. & Sc. Academy Program

South Texas Environmental Engineering & Science Academy (STEEA) Program

The STEEA Program (see flyer here) is offered by the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering’s Department of Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The STEAA Program offers educational opportunities and development of skills to K-12 and community college students in environmental sustainability, engineering and science by integrating engineering and science principles to improve and manage natural and built environments.

Currently, STEEA is offering the following programs:

  • Campus Visits

Visit our department here at TAMUK. We would be glad to introduce your students to our environmental engineering program, give a tour to our lab/facilities, and participate in hands-on environmental activities.

Join us for a fun day of environmental activities for junior and senior students guided by our engineering faculty and students. You will learn about climate change, water quality, air quality and pollution control, desalination, geospatial analysis, data analytics and more. More details will be available soon!

Students spend 2-5 days, 1-4 hours per day working on fun environmental research projects, guided by our engineering faculty and students on topics including climate change, water and air quality control, desalination, geospatial analysis, data analytics and more. Dates/times are flexible.

Students learn the latest on environmental informatics (handing data via programing) and earn a certificate of participation as extracurricular activity. There will be 1 in-person and 3 virtual sessions (for 2 hours each). In fall 2024, the sessions are scheduled on the following Saturdays:

Nov 9 (in-person at TAMUK from 10 am - 12 pm)
Nov 16, Nov 23, and Dec 7 (virtual via Zoom from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm)

Please register by Nov 4, 2024 using the link provided below.
