Dr. Joel Cabrera is from Leon, Nicaragua.  He joined the TAMUK-Citrus Center as Assistant Professor in January 2022.  Dr. Cabrera is interested in sustainable management of water and essential nutrients in citrus production, and improve plant resilience to changing climatic conditions.

 

Joel Cabrera attended the University of Florida where he obtained his MS degrees in Horticulture 2013 and his PhD degree in Agronomy in 2017.  Afterwards, Dr. Cabrera worked for two years as a postdoc in Felix Fritschi's lab at the University of Missouri, and six months as Assistant Professor of Agricultural Sciences at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM.
