Dr. Long Gao


Assistant Professor, Agriculture Economics

Dr. Long Gao is from Shandong province, China. He holds two B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Xiamen University (Fujian, China), an M.S. in Economics from University of Macau (Macau SAR, China), and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. His doctoral research focused on the demand analysis of dairy products in the U.S. market using Nielsen Homescan data.

Upon completing his dissertation, Long worked as a post-doctoral research associate at Texas Tech University, where he broadened his research to sustainable agriculture. He worked on several interdisciplinary projects funded by USDA Ogallala Aquifer Program, USDA NIFA Program, and NSF CASFER Engineer Research Center.

In 2024, Long joined Texas A&M University – Kingsville as an assistant professor of Agribusiness. His research primarily focuses on consumer demand, and he is also interested in the economic analysis of sustainable agriculture, utilizing various economics methodologies such as experimental economics, agribusiness forecasting, and simulation.
