Certificate in Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering


The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering offers an undergraduate level, transcripted Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering Certificate.  While all TAMUK students are eligible to complete the certificate, it is designed to enhance the job-ready skills of students in the B.S. Civil Engineering program who wish to pursue careers related to geotechnical and water resources engineering. 

Certificate Requirements

The Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering Certificate requires a total of 9 SCH (3 courses), 3 SCH (1 course) of which must be in addition to those used to satisfy the student's baccalaureate degree requirements.  All undergraduate certificates in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering are designed for B.S. + 1 course completion.  B.S. Civil Engineering students can complete the Geotechnical and Water Resources Engineering certificate by selecting their 2 Engineering Electives + 1 additional course from the following options.

Complete the following 2 required courses (6 SCH) with a "C" or higher:

  • CEEN 4368 (Foundation Engineering)
  • CEEN 3365 (Environmental Engineering)

Complete 1 additional course (3 SCH) from the following options with a "C" or higher:

  • CEEN 4364 (Design of Water and Wastewater Conveyance Systems)
  • CEEN 4367 (Geoenvironmental Engineering)
