Glynn Garcia is an adjunct instructor at Texas A&M University – Kingsville and directs the Latin Jazz Ensemble. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition from Christopher Newport University, Newport News, VA, and a Master of Music Education from Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, and an Associate in Music in Sound Recording Technology from Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, TX. Mr. Garcia has been an adjunct faculty member since 2009 teaching String Bass, jazz guitar, and The History of Rock & Roll.
Glynn Garcia operates Glynn Garcia Music Services in Corpus Christi, TX providing live music service for a variety of public and private events. His Sparkling City Jazz Orchestra has been featured since 2010 at the annual Texas Jazz Festival in Corpus Christi, TX and hosted guest trumpet artist Bill Churchville and Grammy winning jazz saxophonist Kirk Whalum. He is also a writer and arranger for a variety of public school bands and professional bands in South Texas and professional groups throughout the U.S. He was the first All-State Jazz bassist in Texas in 1979 and played in the US Air Force Band at Langley AFB, VA. Over the past 30 years he has played and recorded with various artists such as Jazz saxophone/flutist James Moody, Trumpeter/comedian Jack Shelton, and vocalist Jack Jones, comedian Redd Foxx, 60s Motown folk artist Richie Havins, R&B groups The Platters, and The Marvelettes, and country artist Isaac Payton Sweat.
Glynn also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and Del Mar College, Corpus Christi. He is a retired Army Reserve officer and resides in Portland, TX with his wife and 4 children.
