Dr. Kenneth D. Williams, Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities


Kenneth D. Williams is a professor of music and the director of choral activities. He joined Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2008.He earned a doctor of musical arts degree in choral conducting from the University of Miami and a master of music degree in vocal performance from the University of South Florida. He holds a bachelor degree in vocal performance and music business from the University of Miami and an associate of arts degree in music from Broward Community College.

Prior to his arrival at TAMUK, Dr. Williams served as associate professor and director of choral activities at Dickinson State University and as associate director of distance learning for the University of South Florida and its College of Engineering.

As a soloist and conductor, he has served as guest conductor and given clinics and presentations in Texas, Montana, and North Dakota. He has performed in a number of positions including: assistant director of the University of Miami Chamber Singers and the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami; artistic director of the men's choruses of Tampa Bay Arts and South Florida Choral Arts; and music director of St. John's United Methodist Church in Miami Beach.

Williams has worked in administration and production with such organizations as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Greater Miami Opera, Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, and Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy.

In addition to his duties as director of choral studies and conducting the choral ensembles, Dr. Williams teaches private voice, secondary choral methods and choral conducting. He has previously taught vocal pedagogy, diction, voice class, and music appreciation.
